At this time of year, spring has long arrived in large parts of the country. Nevertheless, there are still great skiing conditions in Sunnmøre. The areas around the hotel and the road to Trollstigen usually open each year in late April and provide many nice skiing opportunities. Spring skiing offers warm and bright days, yet the winter feeling on the mountains and full spring down in the green fine valleys. Based on the unique Juvet Landscape Hotel, we can guarantee a superb long weekend on the top trip with a local known guide.
Accommodation is at Juvet landscape hotel, one of the most distinctive hotels in Norway. With four ski days available, there are many opportunities. At Juvet there is a sauna and we spend the evenings eating good dinners and planning new trips.
We choose skiing destinations based on snow conditions, avalanche assessments, the weather, and the group's wishes.
Physical level and risk
So that you can have a good experience, it is important that you choose a trip that suits your ability level. The scales for physical requirements and risk are general. Therefore, it is important that you read more about the difficulty of the specific trip under “Details”. This will help you to gain an understanding of the level required and the risks involved for each specific trip.
Read more about physical requirements and risk here.
Physical: 3
On these trips, some of the stages are demanding. On level 3 mountain hikes, there are often some long stages, and / or a demanding summit push where it can get cold. You must stand up to reach the goal, and have a good training basis and good health before departure. We sleep in tents and / or in cabins and hotels, but you do not have to have experience with tent life to participate. If the trip includes activities such as kayaking, cycling, climbing, glacier, skiing / mountaineering, it is an advantage to have experience with this activity. Ski touring before we say goodbye
We have a last breakfast at Juvet, make our lunches and prepare for the trip. This day we might choose a slightly shorter trip since we are going home after today's trip. If everyone wants to go for a longer trip this day too, it is possible, but we will be back at the latest around 4-5 pm. Save a little extra time to say goodbye to your new friends and enjoy the evening after these beautiful days skiing.
Equipment List
Take a good look at this list, and make sure you bring everything you need. We encourage you to use what you have for this trip, and purchase items if you're missing something important on the list below. We have divided the gear list into three categories:
- Required: If you do not own this gear, you must acquire it for your trip.
- Recommended: Gear we suggest to be comfortable, but it is not imperative.
- Optional: Fun, additional luxuries.
This is a technical ski touring trip, you need to have or borrow a beacon, shovel and probe, and know how to use them. You must have some degree of avalanche experience.
Layering is extremely important in a variable climate like Norway. This list will guide you through the essentials. Remember the Norwegian saying "There is no bad weather, only bad gear", and prepare appropriately for any weather. You can read about the weather where you're traveling here.
The video below is for SUMMER gear, but you can get a lot of great tips for winter hiking as well! Welcome to Norway!
