We will meet outside Thon Hotel Opera at 10 a.m. where the guide will pick you up. Together you will go for a hour's drive out of the city and towards the mountains. Around lunch, we will stop by Heddal Stave Church, and have a look at the charming old church, one of Norway's largest Stave Churches. As we continue, we will stop at Haukliseter, one of Norway's most famous DNT cabins for a short hike in Hardangervidda, one of Norway's first national parks. After this, we continue our drive to our destination for the evening, Tyssedal Hotel. Here we'll settle in for the evening, enjoy a traditional Norwegian dinner and go over our itinerary for the next day, and days that follow with the guide.
This Adventure Tour combines the most famous hiking destinations in Norway: Trolltunga, Preikestolen, and Kjerag. En route, we will walk within Hardangervidda, hike one of the biggest glaciers in Norway, and explore some local gems along the way.
- Hike Trolltunga, Preikestolen and Kjerag.
- Hike in Hardangervidda, one of Norway's wildest National Parks and home to native Reindeer herds.
- Explore a day on the Glacier in Folgefonna National Park roped up with helmets, ice axes, and harnesses.
- Take an express ferry up Lysefjorden (The Fjord of Light) between sheer cliffs on either side.
- Spend two days traveling within Hardangerfjorden from Rosendal, one of Norway's most beautiful fjords.
Norway has become famous for its iconic, dramatic, and exciting viewpoints: Trolltunga, Preikestolen, and Kjerag. These three hikes, three of the most beautiful viewpoints in Norway, along with three more days exploring Norway's more hidden gems, make this tour one of the most dynamic and diverse tours of Norway available.
Dramatic fjord views, high mountain tops, three-course dinners, traditional accommodations, Norwegian culture, and unique geological rock formations provide travelers with an exciting and well-rounded tour of South-Western Norway.
The hikes on this tour are relatively long (see the day-to-day itinerary below), and we hike every day. You need to have good physical fitness to join this tour, be prepared for hiking long days, and be willing to enjoy the drives between our hiking locations as we cover vast expanses of the Norwegian landscape. There are not a lot of downtimes as we are experiencing a vast amount of Norway in just 6 days. The tour starts and ends in Oslo, and we leave Oslo in a small group, traveling by minibus.
If you want to explore these iconic destinations, but at a slower pace, we recommend our Icons trip itinerary. We recommend that you plan an extra day in Oslo before or after the tour. Oslo is among Lonely Planet's top 10 cities on their Best in travel 2018, not to mention Europe's Greenest City of 2019, and a beautiful place to reminisce about your upcoming or past adventure with Norrøna Hvitserk!

On these trips, some of the stages are demanding. On level 3 mountain hikes, there are often some long stages, and / or a demanding summit push where it can get cold. You must stand up to reach the goal, and have a good training basis and good health before departure. We sleep in tents and / or in cabins and hotels, but you do not have to have experience with tent life to participate. If the trip includes activities such as kayaking, cycling, climbing, glacier, skiing / mountaineering, it is an advantage to have experience with this activity.
Activities / trips with some risk. Some incidents may occur, and they may be of such a nature that they require professional help.
Training and preparation
The hardest hike is the hike to Trolltunga; it can take up to 11 hours altogether. The other days will be about 4-6 hours of hiking. You should expect to scramble and the path is rocky and slippery if it rains. You should have hiking experience in similar conditions. Good fitness and some hiking experience with a good attitude will also prepare you for this trip.
We stay in unique and welcoming accommodations within the area. If you are traveling alone, you will share a same-sex twin room. If you would like a single room, please request this directly for a single, additional payment of 4000NOK.
Most nights we will stay in en-suite rooms, but not all. If you want a single room we can't guarantee an en-suite room each day.
Accommodation in Oslo before and after the tour is not included- the last night of the trip on day 6 does not include accommodation. We encourage guests to spend the night in Oslo that evening. This allows guests to decompress and allows flexibility on the return time to Oslo on the last day of the tour. We recommend you book a hotel room at Thon Hotel Opera- where you will be dropped off at the trip end.
Due to limited space in the minibus, we ask that you bring one piece of luggage and we recommend a duffel bag, which is easier than a rolling bag to transport on this tour. We require you to bring a day pack (hip belt strongly recommended) to use when hiking for food, water, cameras, and layers.
We reserve the right to change prices. The day by day program is a guideline and changes may occur. You can refer to our general travel conditions for more information.
On all our trips, we require you to have full health and accident insurance which will also cover any emergency transport home. Read more about travel insurance.
We always recommend wool in the Norwegian Mountains, but if you already have synthetic layers and don't want to buy new ones, synthetic is okay.
Bed linen and towels are included at each accommodation.
"I enjoyed the trip very much. Johanna was great (one of my best guides I had) and I spent a very nice holiday. The hotels were well selected and offered time to relax. I enjoyed the one in Rosendal most. The driver Tur (?) was very friendly and helpful, maybe sometimes driving too fast. I will definitely come back to travel with Hvitserk again. I enjoyed the trip very much."

"Excellent tour with tremendous scenery and a great guide. I had been looking for the right tour that offered 3 most important hiking landmarks in Norway and Norrona Hvitserik is the only agency that offers that! I am ecstatic about this tour and experience. Also 2 out of 4 hotels were luxury with gourmet food. Sauna was to die at the last hotel. Excellent tour with tremendous sceneryut you need to train for this hiking challenge, this is not for beginners!"

"An amazing trip with beautiful views! So well organized, lovely accommodations, and Elise was a fantastic guide. It’s a long and active week though, so make sure that you are ready for that! I had an amazing experience and would recommend this company to anyone!"
