Safety and grading of trips

Physical level

3/6 Physical

On these trips, some of the stages are demanding. On level 3 mountain hikes, there are often some long stages, and / or a demanding summit push where it can get cold. You must stand up to reach the goal, and have a good training basis and good health before departure. We sleep in tents and / or in cabins and hotels, but you do not have to have experience with tent life to participate. If the trip includes activities such as kayaking, cycling, climbing, glacier, skiing / mountaineering, it is an advantage to have experience with this activity.

Safety and grading of trips

Risk level

2/6 Risk

Activities / trips with low risk. There are usually few incidents, and they are usually of such a nature that they can be treated locally.

Safety and grading of trips

Training and preperations

This is a trip that is suitable for those who have walked quite a bit in the mountains before. We are on a trip five days in a row, but not all the trips are equally demanding. The terrain is hilly and there can be as much as 1200-1500 meters of altitude on some of the day trips.

Accommodation and food

We spend the night at what we believe are the nicest accommodations in the area. It is planned that everyone sleeps in a double/twin room with someone of the same sex. If you are traveling alone and want a single room, you can choose it when you sign up. This costs NOK 4,000 per person.

All meals are included as described in the day to day itinerary.

Other information

The boat from Bergen leaves early in the morning, so we recommend arriving the night before. Bergen is easily accessible by both train and plane from Oslo. It is also possible to reach Bergen by plane from other Norwegian cities. The trip ends in Voss. You have to arrange your own return journey from Voss.

We ask you to bring a large piece of luggage (we recommend a duffel bag, this is easier to handle in the terrain we travel in) for clothes, hygiene items and other necessary things that you need for the trip. We also ask you to bring a daypack that you can use when we are hiking.

Sommerkveld i Bergen

Day 1:Into the Norwegian fjords

We start early with attendance in Bergen at 07.30, at the world-famous Bryggen. Excited, we travel into the Sognefjord towards Aurland, one of the world's longest fjords. When you don't think the landscape can get any more beautiful, we enter the Aurlandsfjorden. The fjord landscape in Aurlandsfjorden and Nærøyfjorden is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and it is not difficult to understand why. We leave our luggage at the accommodation and head towards the mountain Prest (1478 m above sea level). From the top we can see inwards towards Flåm and out into the Sognefjorden. After the tour, we check into the accommodation and have dinner together in the evening.

Day 2:Hike down Aurlandsdalen

We eat breakfast and pack a snack before we go on a trip. We take the bus to Østerbø, where today's tour starts. Aurlandsdalen is called Norway's most beautiful valley, and it is not difficult to see why. This tour is a must for travel-loving Norwegians! Green, lush and wild nature are some of the words that repeat in the description of this mountain valley. We pass old stilts, waterfalls, raspberry bushes and wildlife. Most of the trip is gently downhill, and the trip is a total of 22 kilometers. We spend the whole day, take many breaks and eat a lot of snacks and food. After the tour, we are transported back to Vangsgaarden for the evening's dinner.

Day 3:Towards Hardangerfjorden

Today we travel on with the Flåmsbanen - one of the world's most beautiful train journeys. Many people visit Flåm only to take this train trip. We arrive in Voss and continue our journey by car/minibus towards the lush and beautiful Hardangerfjord. On the drive, we pass Norway's longest suspension bridge, actually even longer than the Golden Gate Bridge, before we take a quick trip to Vøringsfossen for a short walk to the foot of the waterfall. Vøringsfossen is one of Norway's most famous waterfalls with a vertical drop of 182 metres. Back in the car, we drive on to Tyssedal where we check in at our next accommodation. In the evening, a tasty dinner awaits.

Day 4:Hike to Trolltunga

Early breakfast, and departure for Trolltunga. Trolltunga is a unique and not least spectacular rock formation 700 meters above Ringedalsvatnet on Hardangervidda. It's a long walk (10-12 hours), the longest of the whole trip, but we start early and have dinner late. At the viewpoint, we have plenty of time to relax and take pictures. After the tour, we travel back to Tyssedal Hotell, where another tasty dinner awaits us.

Day 5:Hike on Folgefonna Glacier

From our hotel we drive towards Folgefonna, Norway's third largest glacier, where we will spend the day. We borrow safety equipment such as harnesses, ropes and crampons for safe travel on the glacier before we set off on our trip. If the weather is with us, we will have a lovely view of the entire Hardangerfjord. We are probably tired after the trip to Trolltunga yesterday, so today is all about taking it easy and enjoying nature. After the tour, we drive to Voss where we will spend the last night at the beautiful accommodation, Elva Voss.
