This trail is for confident hikers who are comfortable using their hands and feet in some scrambling terrain. The scrambling sections are a short part of Bessegen, however, it can feel exposed. With its 275 meters of free-falling water, the sound and view of Avdalsfossen is an incredible natural wonder.

Our tour ends with one of Fjord Norway's most beautiful views. You will hike to the mountain Prest, one of the most beautiful viewpoints around Flåm before you leave with Flåmsbanen to Oslo or Bergen - one of the world's most beautiful train journeys.

While hiking in a small and exclusive group of explorers, you will stay in the beautiful and traditional mountain lodges en route. Later, you will stay in modern cabins and a beautiful hotel with a stunning fjord view. Your luggage will be transported to Jotunheimen while you hike.

Physical level

3/6 Physical

On these trips, some of the stages are demanding. On level 3 mountain hikes, there are often some long stages, and / or a demanding summit push where it can get cold. You must stand up to reach the goal, and have a good training basis and good health before departure. We sleep in tents and / or in cabins and hotels, but you do not have to have experience with tent life to participate. If the trip includes activities such as kayaking, cycling, climbing, glacier, skiing / mountaineering, it is an advantage to have experience with this activity.

Activities / trips with some risk. Some incidents may occur, and they may be of such a nature that they require professional help.

Training and preparation

The paths in Norway can be slippery, muddy and rocky, having hiking experience in similar terrain is beneficial. Some of the trails are exposed and require some scrambling. Being comfortable in scrambling conditions, slightly exposed settings and challenging hiking terrain is necessary on this trip.

Accommodation

We stay in unique and welcoming accommodations within the area. If you are traveling alone, you will share a same-sex twin room. If you would like a single room, please request this directly for a single, additional payment of 3500 NOK.

Most nights we will stay in en-suite rooms, but not all. If you want a single room we can't guarantee an en-suite room each day.

Other information

We meet in Oslo in the morning, so we recommend arriving the night before. The trip ends in Flåm after breakfast. You have to arrange your own return journey from Flåm. Book train tickets at www.vy.com.

Day 3:Hike Bukkelægret

Today, you will be hiking the mountain trek Bukkelægret. Many people think the hike over Bukkelægeret is every bit as lovely as Besseggen, if not more so. There are some scrambling sections, but no more challenging than the day before with some chains to assist us in steeper sections. We have the whole day, so we won't rush more than we need to. The area is known for the rich blooming of various mountain flowers, and the blue, almost turquoise-colored water creates a beautiful contrast to the mountain terrain. In the evening, you will be served dinner at Gjendebu Mountain Lodge.

Day 8:Goodbye!

Though it is our last day of this week-long adventure tour, we will enjoy breakfast together before we depart. A short ride from our hotel is the famous Flåmsbanen; many people consider the old ride the most beautiful journey in the whole world. You can choose to end your adventure in both Bergen and Oslo, as the train is very well connected to both destinations. It is also possible to take the ferry to Bergen from Flåm or Aurland (right outside our accommodation). Otherwise, you can also choose to spend some more days by the Norwegian Fjords.

We always recommend wool in the Norwegian Mountains, but if you already have synthetic layers and don't want to buy new ones, synthetic is okay.

Due to limited space in the minibus, we ask that you bring one piece of luggage (we recommend a duffel bag, which is easier than a rolling bag to transport on this tour) with your clothes, toiletries, and items necessary for when we are not hiking. We require you to bring a day pack (hip belt strongly recommended) to use when hiking for food, water, cameras, and layers.

There will be luggage transportation by boat in Jotunheimen, so be prepared to carry your luggage from the boat pier to the cabins, max 400m (easier with a duffel bag).
