Our Philosophy

Who is Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure?

Who is Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure?

Our Core Values

Hvitserk is the name of Greenland's highest mountain. When the Vikings sailed from Iceland, the 3,693 meter high mountain on the east coast of Greenland was an important landmark. They did not see land until the white snowy mountain appeared as a "lighthouse" in the distance.  In the same way as the mountain Hvitserk served as a "lighthouse" 1,000 years ago, Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure today would be a "lighthouse" for people with adventure in their blood.

Our founders: Ulf Prytz, Sjur Mørdre, Lars Ebbesen and Martin Gudbrandsgård combined two companies to create Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure as we know it today. Founded by passionate, exploratory, and unique characters, we hope to pass on their energy and spark into Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure clients today.

Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure strives to show travelers the world of adventure off the beaten path. We want to encourage people to challenge themselves, get out of their comfort zones, and try something brilliant and new. Norway is an incredible country to explore: learning about our nature, sustainable infrastructure, Norwegian culture and philosophies such as Friluftsliv and Dugnad. Not only will our trips broaden your horizons intellectually, we also hope to broaden your personal perspectives, by showing you the world we know and love: the vast natural landscapes of Norway.

As a local tour operator, giving back to our communities is a paramount part of our culture, and we strive to conserve the environments we work in. Part of the Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure experience is to educate travelers on how to explore thoughtfully, learn about local conservation, and consider impacts on the environments we’re observing. Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure created The Carin Foundation and is partnered with the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund, Responsible Travel, and The Adventure Travel Trade Association.

On trips with Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure, our number one priority is, simply, you. Safety is on top of the list at Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure when considering joining our adventures. The backbone of Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure is our guides. Finding guides with the right diploma, who held the right courses and right practical experience is a demanding task. However, for Norrøna Hvitserk Adventure the soft – social skills, are as important as the hard – practical skills. With their invaluable knowledge, our guides make us proud, and we are proud to have them representing us. We hire guides that are competent, experienced, English-speaking, and first-aid trained. With their care for the environment, love of nature, open minds and knowledge of the environment, we are confident our guides will give you a fulfilling and adventurous experience.

Last, but most important, is our fundamental love for nature, culture, traveling, and adventure. Join a trip with us to experience Norway for yourself! After all, no one knows Norway like us.
